Why We Oppose the ESD
Unfair Fees: Extra costs for neighbors and small local shops that place an unnecessary burden on our community-led economy.
Displacement Risk: Risk of increased policing and surveillance that leads to the threat and displacement of unhoused neighbors.
No Control: Lack of real community accountability and public control over how these private funds are collected and spent.
Better Choices: True investment in community-led safety and care programs that support all residents without exclusion.
